February book review!!

I’m gonna be honest, almost every book in February was a 4-5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ chef’s kiss 💋 for me! Sierra Simone can write nothing less in my opinion. I’ve enjoyed her other series, New Camelot and Thornchapel, so it was no surprise that the Lyonesse trilogy was amazing as well.

It’s a spin on the old Tristan and Isolde story and I don’t remember much about it except that it ended pretty tragically. Anyone else watch the movie that came out with James Franco? Here’s a little reminder

Well anyways, I remember it being only ok but that the two main characters don’t have an HEA and while that’s not always needed, it was still more than my little teenage heart could handle. I don’t think I’ve watched it since lol but I digress. It’s about a king, a princess promised to the king and the knight she falls in love with.

The modern day retelling is set in Washington DC with the “King” being a handsome 30something named Mark who owns an, ahem *sex club*, where all the kinky things happen. There is no shortage of high profile people who visit this club and they all pay in secrets. Our princess, Isolde, is the daughter of a wealthy banker and niece to some high in the ranks catholic priest. She’s been trained from a young age to be, for lack of a better term, an assassin, and is promised to Mark by her father. And our sweet knight, Tristan, is Mark’s personal body guard and inevitably falls in love with both Mark and Isolde.

It’s MMF so that means a devils three way and it’s amazingly written. There is a sort of prequel book that is called Salt in the Wound that tells how Mark and Isolde “seal the betrothal”. 😳Definitely read it first.

Moving on!

Feathers so Vicious and Shadows so Cruel had me feeling all the feelings. Also had me in a chokehold!!! It took me a weekend to finish the first one and the second one about a week because, you know, work, always getting in the way…

These are definitely a dark romance with some very triggering things so proceed with the caution and check if trigger warnings. However, the way the characters, the two male main characters(MMC’s) and the female main character(FMC) and their experiences are so well written, I couldn’t put the books down. The FMC Galantia(not a huge fan of the names in this book) is raised very sheltered and the writing has me believing every second of it. The males, Malyr and Sebian, are raven shifters that kidnap her and this is very much a love triangle at times and then very frustrating at others. Like these men are very morally grey… like all good book boyfriends lol. Sebian was not my favorite but very much golden retriever energy, while Malyr is absolutely vicious in the beginning and very hard to like. I ended up liking him more though as the books went on. Again, if you don’t like the dark romance, don’t touch these but if you do, they’re worth picking up!

That’s it for February! My book count for the year so far is 14. I’ve already finished one for March so far but you know how I love me some Ice Planet Barbarians!

Yes please!

Oops, I almost forgot!!!!

I had a book I DNF because it was just unbelievable and so awful. Glitch by Briana Michaels, absolutely not. I got 70% through and it’s like yall just met, in person, for the first time, literally two days ago and you’re already just so in love. Get out of here. Yes they gamed together before that but he never really spoke that much because he was so embarrassed by his super deep and sexy voice. Again. Just stop. So I did. You can give it a shot but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Happy reading!!

Loving this new Harry Styles song!
